Week 8
Monday * Feb. 26
TOPIC White's seven components of design; movie clip symbols in Flash
DUE 9 a.m. (via e-mail): Flash 2
DUE 3 p.m. in class: Critique 1 (see Required Work)
READ White, pp. 51 - 73
READ McAdams, Lesson 6
Today's quiz will cover both White and Flash Lesson 6. The material from White should be in your mind when you work on the Flash exercise that is due next week.
To prepare for the quiz, do NOT memorize the list of White's seven components. Instead, please concentrate on understanding what each one of them means. As always, pay attention to White's illustrations.
As for Lesson 6, it is more advanced than all five previous Lessons in Flash, so make sure you spend enough time trying to understand the concept of a movie clip and how movie clips are used. Some of the more important ideas:
- What is the relationship of the movie clip timeline to the main movie Timeline?
- Why is the registration point important?
- How is the instance name used?
You should complete Exercise 6.1 before you come to class. It is relatively easy, and completing it will prepare you for my lecture.
