Media Laws Under Review

Not clear what's really going on (at least not to me), but Malaysiakini reports that the national government is "reviewing all legislation and regulations governing the media in order to help maintain peace and security."

Five ministries will "clean up, standardise and solidify these laws to achieve better enforcement and implementation." I do not think five U.S. Cabinet-level departments could possibly agree on anything, so it will be interesting to see if the Malaysian ministries can work in tandem and come to an agreement.
