Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Interview with Jen Friedberg, a photog who also does Flash, by Anne Conneen. Interesting that she had to buy most of her own stuff, including the software, and build most of her projects off the clock. This is not very surprising, as most newspaper and broadcast news managers just say "Show me the money" if anyone on staff wants to create innovative online content.

About a recent project, Friedberg said:

"It took a week to shoot, collect audio, and find archived pictures, and then three days to put together the 6 slideshows, edit the audio, and set up the main interface. I spent a couple of hours after that tweaking and troubleshooting."

Now that she has proven herself, her employer actually gives her some paid time to work on these projects.
