How to Submit Work in Lab

Please make sure you can see the FILE EXTENSIONS on your computer (examples: .doc .mp3 .avi .jpg). This page explains how to make file extensions visible.

How to Turn in a Single File

These instructions apply if only ONE file is due.

  1. Log in using your assigned username and password for THIS COURSE.
  2. Do you see the HOMEWORK drive? If not, REBOOT THE COMPUTER. Then log in again. If you still do not see the HOMEWORK drive, move to a different computer.
  3. Connect your device to the computer. (Device: for example, your digital audio recorder, your camera, your USB thumb drive.)
  4. Make a new folder on SCRATCH (D:) and name it with your own name. (If you already have such a folder on this computer, use that one.)
  5. COPY the file from your device and PASTE it into that folder.
  6. Rename the file in the folder according to these instructions.
  7. After renaming it, COPY the file and PASTE it into the HOMEWORK drive.

PLEASE NOTE: You cannot rename a file AFTER it is in HOMEWORK. It's not possible. The system prevents it.

How to Turn in a Folder That Contains Multiple Files

These instructions apply if MORE THAN ONE file is due.

  1. Log in using your assigned username and password for THIS COURSE.
  2. Do you see the HOMEWORK drive? If not, REBOOT THE COMPUTER. Then log in again. If you still do not see the HOMEWORK drive, move to a different computer.
  3. Make a new folder on SCRATCH (D:) and name it with your own name. (If you already have such a folder on this computer, use that one.)
  4. Inside that "your name" folder, create a NEW FOLDER to contain the files from your assigned work.
  5. Name the new folder according to these instructions.
  6. Add all the required files to the new folder. DO NOT include any unnecessary files! Doing so might lower your grade, because the instructor will not know which ones to grade and which ones to ignore. For that reason, the instructor will just grade some files at random. If they are bad, then your grade will be bad too.
  7. COPY the folder and PASTE it into the HOMEWORK drive.

PLEASE NOTE: If you create a new folder in HOMEWORK, you will NOT be able to name it. (It will be called "New Folder.")

You cannot name or rename a folder in HOMEWORK. It's not possible. The system prevents it.
